Whether it’s your firstĀ waxingĀ appointment or part of your regular skincare routine, the way you prepare can make all the difference. At Cisne Wellness, we want every experience to feel comfortable, smooth, and confidence-boosting.

Our team takes pride in getting to know each patient personally, so you always feel at ease and cared for — like part of our family.

Here’s what to do (and what to avoid) before your next waxing treatment to help your skin look and feel its best.

What to Do Before Waxing

A few simple measures can help you prepare for your waxing appointment at Cisne Wellness.

  • Exfoliate gently.Ā Light exfoliation a day or two before your appointment helps you shed dead skin cells and allows the wax to grip the hair better.Ā Use a gentle scrub or an exfoliating glove,Ā but nothing harsh or irritating.
  • Let your hair grow.Ā For best results, hair should be about a quarter-inch long (about as long as a grain of rice). This gives the wax something to adhere to, ensuring a cleaner, smoother result.
  • Moisturize the day before.Ā Keeping your skin hydrated is important, but skip lotions or oils on the day of your appointment, as they can interfere with the wax’s ability to stick to the hair.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing.Ā After waxing, your skin can be a little sensitive. Soft, breathable fabrics will keep irritation to a minimum and make your visit more comfortable.

What to Avoid Before Waxing

Some of the things to avoid in the days leading up to your waxing appointment include:

  • Sun exposure and tanning.Ā Sunburned or recently tanned skin is more delicate and can be prone to irritation. It’s best to wait at least 24–48 hours after sun exposure before waxing.
  • Active ingredients like retinol.Ā Products with glycolic acid, retinoids, or other exfoliatingĀ ingredients can make your skin more sensitive andĀ could cause skin damage during waxing. Our team usually recommends avoiding these products for at least several days (ideally around a week) before and after waxing.
  • Shaving between waxes.Ā Shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle and can makeĀ future waxing less effective.
